When participating on the IP-Solutions IMS courses, theoretical in-depth presentations will be combined with hands-on practice. The practical exercises will be performed in an IMS lab which is built up by using the open source software OpenIMS.
All core nodes, the CSCF’s and the HSS, are using different IP addresses, which means that the students can examine every nitty-gritty little detail of the signalling. The SIP messages on the Mw and Gm interfaces with all the proprietary P-headers, as well as the DIAMETER messages on the Cx interface with all the usual as well as the experimental result codes as defined by 3GPP will all be visible when capturing the traffic.
Did you miss the ISC interface in the previous paragraph?
Calm down, we have that as well. Application servers, such as presence and IP-TV, are included in the lab and in order to reach those services. You will have the opportunity to configure the HSS with service profiles, initial filter criteria, service point triggers and trigger points.
And speaking of users: you will of course start by configuring the HSS with the subscriber’s IMPUs and IMPIs. And who knows, maybe you even feel like assigning an implicit registration set to the subscriber?
The different core networks can of course handle different IMS domains, making inter-domain sessions possible.
