Open source code is by many considered reliable technology. The code may also, freely, be altered to suit any particular needs. Your organisation may have special demands upon the functionality of a system, and it can in this case easily be adapted. Many times the programming and testing involves a large group of people within and outside the organisation, guaranteeing high quality code, and any shortcomings being found quickly and handled. We have a great deal of experience doing system development with a number of different open source tools.
