Description
The aim of this course is to explain the H.248/MegaCo protocols used in the next generation of telecommunications networks based on IP technology.
Voice over IP has evolved rapidly over the last few years with SIP dominating the market and effective and economic VoIP services being increasingly deployed in both the Internet and company Intranets.
The existing traditional telecoms infrastructure using Signalling System 7 (SS#7) with ISDN signalling on the access links still has to be integrated into this VoIP environment. Much work has been expended on this, particularly on the soft switches that will distribute the switching function over carriers’ infrastructures, as well as on SIGTRAN, that will be used to transport PSTN signaling into a VoIP environment (SIGTRAN).
MegaCo/H.248 is the protocol used to control these soft switches and this course looks at the protocol in some detail as well as providing a background to carrying traditional signalling over IP-based networks.
Target group
Technical specialists, support personnel, communications specialists, engineers, consultants, architects and anyone else who needs a good overview of MegaCo/H.248.
Prerequisites
A goof understanding of IP and VoIP is essential.
Other
The course is presented as a mixture of discussion and teaching sessions. The course will be delivered in an interactive and enjoyable style that engages delegates in the learning process.
